The Unsatisfied Rocks BMF’s Birthday Bash 2010

The Unsatisfied BMF Birthday Bash Photo gallery here. More photos coming as I find them. Movies coming too. If you have any photos or movies of this show please send them to me.

From the beginning, we have been huge fans and followers of The Unsatisfied. Read some history over here. Me and Miss Chicky decided we would have a big birthday bash this year and host it in our backyard. Only thing we had to do was to get the back yard party ready. After months of busting our asses, we completed the backyard, got party ready, and it was on. As I told a few people, that prior to the party, I was getting so tired that I was having thoughts of just getting the party over with. When the Unsatisfied arrived my spirit was renewed with rock excitement. They set up on our carefully planned dual deck/stage and to say they rocked the house would be an understatement. I had a lot of friends at the party that would not be considered ‘rock’ fans of this type by any means. The day after the show, and talking to many of the guests, they all said, “that band was fucking awesome!!”. This was from what I would call non fans before and gained fans as of today. We are and were obviously already huge fans of The Unsatisfied, and even bigger fans after the party. The band put on two sets. One electrified spectacle of pure punk rock even playing a cover of a song I requested (hoped) they would learn and play and to say the learned it and played it would not do what they did to the song justice. “No Values” originally by Black Flag, covered by many but my favorite cover coming from Hank3 on the ‘West Memphis3’ benefit album put out by Henry Rollins. The Unsatisfied ripped into this song like they fucking owned it and it was most definitely  a highlight for me. Miss Chicky swears they should add this song to their set list and let others enjoy it too. I agree wholeheartedly.

After this raucous set of blistering rock in my back yard, they took a break and came back to do an amazing acoustical set that really worked. A highlight, “When a man comes around”….wow….Eric you sounded amazing and the band played it right as right.

I had a great time watching and listening to the band, but also had a great time joining in on a couple of things I knew one or two lines too, talking with the guys, helping look up lyrics with Wayno and showing Eric some of my treasures as he was patiently showing interest itching to hit the road. You all rock in my book.

So there is the beginning of my post of the Unsatisfied playing at my birthday party. Keep checking back as I will be adding thoughts and memories of things as I think of them. Be sure the check out all the Tumblrs, and other sites we run for other stuff throughout the next few weeks.

Thanks guys for making this birthday a memory of a lifetime. I say we make it once a year, same date, same time every year.

Look for a new release from The Unsatisfied to be reviewed on MusicFilter very shorty..hint hint.

The Kills 03

The Kills “Keep On Your Mean Side” I just brought this album to Miss Chicky who looked over at me and said, “This music is made for us”. My first impressions: raw, simple, sexy, hard, soft, cool, original, and we’re only on track five.

This is definitely one of the best albums I’ve heard so far this year. It’s unusual to like every track on an album but this one passes that test. I especially like “Superstition” and “Fried My Little Brains”. The Kills at the Magic Stick in Detroit on April 29, 2003. I hope they show up in Atlanta.

My first impressions stand after listening to the CD a few more times. It only gets better each listen. Very sexy and very raw. This is music you can definately feel in your guts.

Sometimes things just come together…

Serve very hot; garnish with parsley.

November 28, 2003

Sometimes things just come together.. …they come together in your mind and soul in ways that are indescribable. Yet, I must try to convey the great things happening in my own mind and life as of now. My love, my life, my friends, my future…its a good thing.

My love, Miss Chicky exceeds every perfect thought I’ve ever had..every moment I’m with her. My life, wow, my life is good. Once upon a time my life was not so great…I wasn’t even sure how I was gonna wake up the next day…My life: always optimistic but I began to become a little bit pessimistic ….is now an underlying sense of pure happiness and new found optimisim. I am the most in love motherfucker you could possibly find on earth right now and I can’t get enough. What a great sense of being. I am finally my own person and totally feel love for that.. I’m completly connnected to the most awesome person I have ever known in my life and most likely will ever know. I’m soakin’ it up and lovin every second of it. Life is what you make it. Life is also how you take it. .I BELIEVE this is it as deep as it gets and it only gets deeper and I”m not afraid to go as deep as possilbe….this is what life is all about people…TRUE LOVE. TRUE ROMANCE.
Music: always an important part of my life has now taken on an automatic pureness that just flows with the times. It just keeps getting better, much like my relationship with Miss Chicky….it seems to exceed every imaginable thought i have.

and i can’t fucking wait till my baby gets her sexy butt home.

baby … god

way to make me feel bad about last night..damn

i promise not to edit anything

i’ve learned a huge lesson in the last two minutes baby

I love you baby

I love YOUR nonooxgenated brain.

I will never make you listen to Erasure again.

Good.

Henry Rollins and Black Flag @ The Masquerade in Atlanta 6/5/03

June 07, 2003

Rollins proves he still has “IT” Thursday 6/5 at the Masquerade Henry Rollins pulled off a feat no one ever thought he would do, and he did it with balls and sweat.

I’ve been a fan of Black Flag for a long time. My first purchase was “Who’s got the 10 1/2 inch?” on cassette. I played that tape over and over and over and still to this day listen to it. Black Flag was the prototype punk band for me. Pure energy, pure rage, pure punk. I never got the chance to see the band play live but the moons aligned just right for a reunion of sorts with the Rollins band going on tour to support the West Memphis Three and playing all Black Flag songs and also to support the CD “Rise Above” which is one of the best Cd’s to come out for a long time. It ranks in the top 5 CD’s of all time for me. Keith Morris made a guest appearance singing about 5 songs from the early days when he was the singer for Black Flag. He didn’t disappoint at all. Then out walks Henry like a lion that had been caged forever and suddenly released to a room full of raw meat. He attacked the stage, the audience, and the songs with a force that was beyond powerful. His famous stance before the song ripped into a the verses was menacing, his voice better than ever and his intensity just as intense as any one of his first gigs back in the day….from what I have read anyway…..

EVERY song was ON, EVERY nuance was HIT HARD, every stage diver met with a look like, “go ahead PUNK make my day”. The sweat poured off of Henry soaking anyone in the first 3 rows of the pit. I braved the very front row for about 10 songs. WOW. INFUCKINGTENSE. I still hurt from it but it hurt so good. So awesome. I can’t even get the words to flow right about this show it was so good. The Pistols are number one at what they do forever. Black Flag will forever be number one at what they do. In your face, gut wrenching punk that you feel deep inside. If anyone out there gets a chance to see this show…DO IT….you won’t be sorry. I see now why Henry named one of his first solo albums after he left Black Flag “HOT ANIMAL MACHINE”…he is EXACTLY that and more. And I guess Henry decided since he was doing this tour in the first place he may as well go all the way and do an encore(something he once made fun of)…so he came out and did “Damaged 1&2” that was the perfect last song.
